Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Friendships

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

It is a good thing I went with friendships and not platonic friendships as the prompt indicates. There are too many in this list who eventually formed romantic relationships. I am interested to see what the top ten lists of everyone else this week.

  1. Harry, Ron, and Hermione from Harry Potter. Even though Hermione and Ron eventually pair off, the trio had a solid friendship.
  2. Clary and Simon in The Mortal Instruments. Yes, Simon was in love with Clary, but he still remained a good friend to her.
  3. Laurie in Little Women. Again, he does eventually marry Amy, but his friendship with Jo was touching.
  4. Wonder. Auggie made some great friendships in this book and touched so many lives. The best part was that they all loved him for who he was.
  5. Perks of Being a Wallflower. Sam and Patrick could have blown him off because he was awkward, but they chose to embrace him and befriend him instead.
  6. The Raven Boys. These boys have a very unusual situation, but they are there for each other no matter what.
  7. Big Little Lies. There was a lot of women cattiness in this book, but Madeline, Celeste, and Jane form a real bond and a true friendship.
  8. A Man Called Ove. I always tell people this book is like “Up”, but without the balloons. Despite his best efforts, Ove finds himself with a group of great people who see through his curmudgeon-y front and see him for who he really is.
  9. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. This book follows neighbors and friends who despite clashing personalities have formed true friendships.
  10. Ready Player One. This book is interesting in that these characters have forged friendships long before actually meeting each other.
