Weekly Wrap-Up Wednesday February 21 -February 27, 2019

My weekly wrap-ups include the books I read the past week along with mini reviews for each one.

Perfection by Merphy Napier
Format: ebook
Source: Amazon
Genre: YA Fantasy
Rating: ⭐⭐ 1/2
Date Finished: 02/22/2018

This book had a good premise; however, the main character was kind of annoying and didn’t make very good decisions a lot of the time even when warned that she was walking into a trap. Also, a lot of the situations were unlikely.

Nevernight (The Nevernight Chronicle, #1)Nevernight(The Nevernight Chronicle, #1) by Jay Kristoff
Format: Hardcover
Source: Library
Genre: Adult Fantasy
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Date Finished: 02/22/2018

This was such an exciting read. It kept me on my toes the whole time. I really loved Mia as a character. She sometimes found herself in a bind and made mistakes, but she was clever and tough. I liked her.

City of Ashes (The Mortal Instruments, #2)
City of Ashes(The Mortal Instruments, #2) by Cassandra Clare
Format: Audiobook
Source: Scribd
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Narrator: Natalie Moore
Narrator rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Date Finished: 02/22/201

This was a continuation of rereading The Mortal Instruments for me. Still a great book. I forgot a lot, especially with timelines. I forgot that it took a while for Clary to discover her power with creating runes. Also, still weirded out about the Jace/Clary “incest” plotline. Not sure why that needed to be a thing in these books.

Trylle: The Complete Trilogy (Trylle, #1-3)
Format: Paperback
Source: Half Price Books
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐
Date Finished: 02/24/2018

I previously read and reviewed the first book, Switched which you can see here. This bind-up contains Switched, Torn, and Ascend. This was an action packed exciting read even though there were things that frustrated me. Also, this is one love triangle where I think she picked the wrong guy.

The Sin Eater’s Daughter (The Sin Eater’s Daughter, #1)
The Sin Eater’s Daughter(The Sin Eater’s Daughter, #1)
Format: Audiobook
Source: Scribd
Genre: Young Adult Fantasy Romance
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Date Finished: 02/26/2018

This was an interesting/different book for me. I am still not entirely sure what the sin-eating was; if it was just a custom and how did they know all the deceased sins? There was a love triangle in this one too (sort of) although it was more of an arranged marriage type situation and I don’t think she should have ended up with either man.

That’s a wrap for this week. See you again next week!
